Building Repairs

Where repairs are concerned, we are able to piece in new stone, or when the damage is extensive, install completely new sections. We also use specially formulated mortars for in situ "plastic" repairs.

In all cases, great care is taken in matching the new to the old. Where brickwork has become defective we can install new bricks or repair spalled bricks with a special mortar coloured to match the adjacent brickwork.

Marble provides us with one of the most attractive mediums used in buildings. With no two pieces alike, there are many alternatives for its use. Whilst it is one of the most beautiful natural materials, it can also become easily damaged when treated incorrectly. Therefore, we also have a variety of treatments for it. A specially formulated paste is used on lighter coloured marble; once applied it draws out deeply ingrained grime. Once this is achieved, the paste is then completely removed and a neutralizing solution is sponged on. Then finally it is polished to a pristine condition. On darker varieties we use fine grade carborundum discs combined with a felt pad to add the final touch. As with brick and stonework, regular maintenance should be carried out.

In addition to cleaning and restoration services, we can offer various forms of protection such as water-proofing or applying stone textured coatings.

St John's Street

Some buildings require extensive fascia refurbishment.

St John's Street - The whole brickwork on this facade was so badly exfoliated that it was totally recovered using brick "mastic".
